The direction of my painting in 2025 focuses on landscape as metaphor, and pursuing works in an intuitive and unconstrained manner. I continue to employ mark making to convey symbolic underlying meanings in these mainly larger works. The ambiguous nature of these paintings doesn’t present a problem for me, and the viewer may interpret meanings through how they relate, how the artwork “speaks” to them. The paintings work more at the level of feeling, and the intuitive meets physical materiality in the artworks form. I enjoy the freedom this painting method offers.
This year I’m also beginning the creation of two series of works, titled
Deep time Resonance, and Liminal edges. Deep time Resonance explores our relationships with country and planet, and interprets this through the use of sign and symbol. Liminal edges works more on the transitional space between the subconscious and conscious world, a continuation and development of previous ideas.
