Two new abstractions

I’ve just completed two abstractions a couple of days ago. One was inspired by our visit earlier in the year to Underwater World on the Sunshine Coast. I loved the jellyfish there, amongst other creatures. Finally this artwork has arrived, rising into conscious creation, and I’m very pleased with it. It’s titled “Their underwater world”. The second painting is titled “Blue space”. Some strong feelings were coming up before I painted these, and the brushstrokes are reflecting this, although I completed them in a much better frame of mind than I started….remember my blog post earlier in the year about “Art as therapy; therapy as art”? Well, this seems to fit that picture, especially “Blue space”. I’m posting the images here for you to enjoy.

More pics from Mooloolaba

Here’s a few more pics from Underwater world and the beach at Mooloolaba. It was a lovely day out yesterday. The weather was perfect and cooler now, after a hot summer …so nice. The otters were resting in the sun, and the crocodile resting in his (fake) watercourse. It always concerns me when I see larger wild animals and mammals in restricted environments. How does this affect them emotionally, physically and mentally?…I’m sure it does even though many people would not recognise this as an issue. It’s wonderful to see animals we aren’t familiar with in zoos, and often there are great breeding programs. Still, it causes me to think on these issues….anyway, the beach was beautiful!
