Christmas mandalas

I’ve completed some Christmas mandalas...just for fun. For the Jacobean Lily mandala I used photos of my flowering Jacobean lily…red and green and Christmassy. The Crystal Christmas lights mandala is based on my photos of crystals and skies. Both have special “light” backgrounds to reflect the mood of the season. Hope you enjoy them! Purchase them at

“Gone Girlie”

I’ve just completed another collage…so much fun, and an immediate sense of accomplishment….am somewhat surprised at what I’ve produced. Its full of flowers, butterflies, and a hen. Oh; and a young woman looking a little surprised herself! Couldn’t resist the pinks in this one. I’m not really sure of the theme. Maybe its an easter bonnet, or maybe I’m just channelling my inner girl. Sweet!! It’s titled “Gone Girlie”.

New paintings up today

Just photographed a couple of new semi abstract landscapes…they’re about “water” and actually have a very wet appearance. I’m using some new brushes and this helps create a slightly different way of working, if I so choose….makes paint application more flexible. The flowing look is achieved by the use of more water mixed into the paint. There’s quite a few runs and dribbles and this also adds to the watery effect and the colours are predominantly cool watery blues, greens, and a lot of white. They’re very atmospheric works and invoke feelings of the wet season I experienced while living in north east NSW. I’m really enjoying this painting method and am happy to add it to the two approaches I already employ.

Northern Rivers holiday pics

Loved our brief holiday to the Northern Rivers, NSW…took some beautiful snaps…If you get a chance to go there you’ll love its scenic beauty. Rainforests, national parks, the best beaches, markets, villages and of course Byron Bay are the outstanding features of the area. There’s lots to do and see. It’s definitely a wonderful place for Shinrin-yoku, Japanese for “forest bathing”, and you’ll also catch some good waves off the beaches. Mt Warning (Wollumbin) is the main mountain attraction in the area, and is the remnant plug of a massive volcano that exploded millennia ago leaving a huge caldera up into Queensland and as far south as Ballina.

Our favourite things are walking to Protestors and Minyon Falls, and visiting the Crystal Castle near Mullumbimby.

Am excited about using some of these pics as a basis for future artworks. Some of our best pics are here for you in a slideshow.
