Pranged my car yesterday…not sure if it’ll be written off or not….feeling sad. I don’t know if I have enough finances for a new one. And also sad because we can’t go out driving occasionally like we normally do, to remain sane. Luckily we visited Brunswick Heads on Tuesday, and we had a great day, on the beach and in little shops. (Good coffee too!) The beach has been somewhat damaged by the recent storm surges and the river was running very high, a big swell at the river mouth. But the day was pleasant and no wind on the beach. Eventually the sky started to clear from the west. A beautiful day out.
Two of my semi abstract landscapes are being shown in the Clayfield College art show, “Inspired” opening 29 May till 31 May.These haven’t been shown before. I enjoyed making them, and they reference aspects of landscape found in the Northern Rivers area of north east NSW….quite a rainy place, actually.
Loved our brief holiday to the Northern Rivers, NSW…took some beautiful snaps…If you get a chance to go there you’ll love its scenic beauty. Rainforests, national parks, the best beaches, markets, villages and of course Byron Bay are the outstanding features of the area. There’s lots to do and see. It’s definitely a wonderful place for Shinrin-yoku, Japanese for “forest bathing”, and you’ll also catch some good waves off the beaches. Mt Warning (Wollumbin) is the main mountain attraction in the area, and is the remnant plug of a massive volcano that exploded millennia ago leaving a huge caldera up into Queensland and as far south as Ballina.
Our favourite things are walking to Protestors and Minyon Falls, and visiting the Crystal Castle near Mullumbimby.
Am excited about using some of these pics as a basis for future artworks. Some of our best pics are here for you in a slideshow.
