Finding the essence of the idea or subject, is emerging as a significant way of working. I’m enjoying this method, and using only paint drips and occasional symbols which indicate an idea. Brushstrokes are broader overall, yet still somewhat textural. Layers are still present in some pieces; the idea of hiding and revealing what lies beneath is very interesting for me. In these works I’m seeking to evoke an emotion in the viewer: feelings connected to memories of places, or simply an emotion that has arisen from viewing the painting. Colour is an important part of my work, and I’m continually finding new relationships between colours, lines, textures.
